the Crucified, Holy life

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

~ Proverbs 12:3

On one side of the coin, church hurt can be very devastating due to the vulnerable nature of a God centric community. On the flipside, God is at liberty to use some tough cookies in His flock to chisel out the rough edges in your heart. Listen:

I. we are often too alive,

Just the other day I was telling my wife about an institutional church leader who would not talk to me for three months (though we were working in the same environment) because I was 'making away with His attention' by my scripture erudity. Well, I should have thought to myself, 'Come to think of it, I am not here to talk to Him, but those who have received my word ministry'. Folks, the hurt that is still lurking in our hearts is sponsored by the utopian expectations that we have hung on people. They told you that they are born again, they did not tell you they are Christ like. Son, do not establish wickedness by offering it a lodging place in your heart! Were you served with a gut punch when they indulged the gossip while knowing that you would know? Well, just say a hallelujah to the one who foreknew all of you and move on. If you can feel nothing when they say everything, then your death to the flesh is really something.

II. we are often too dead,

Consider this: you are as alive as you are holy so to what degree are you dead? Now that you love your fellowship community, kindly return the favor by being holier. Serving God together can be quite complicated if some of us are moonlighting in sinful habits. Friend, now that we are a team, be a true player lest all of us should be judged as false. I can neither insult nor insult back because I am holy. There is no death nor dying in me so do not expect me to miss your birthday party even if you missed mine; You can keep your death maneuvers and stances: I am alive in Christ and the invitation extends to you as well.
