Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
~ Isaiah 45:22
The pursuit of God is not possible until God is the only pursuit. God has instituted that if He is not the only objective then He is not an availability. Read the text, He says, 'I AM (the God of encounter) and there is NONE ELSE.' Why can't I get God? Who and where is the LORD? Because there are other things to do on your to do list. There is a game at 3:00 pm, there is a friend swinging by at 5:30 pm and dinner at 8:00 pm. And you wonder why God is yet to attach Himself to your spirit? Friend, why wasn't the day blocked out to just host Him? What are friends doing in it, and as though that was not enough; food! Oh LORD, be the only one so that you can be the only present God! I asked my students back then, 'we often set apart like four years to get a university degree, have we ever set like seven years aside to get a spirit realm called God?' See where our problem lies: we've always thought that God can come unless He is the only guest.
But then for you to pursue, your heart must be hot, (Deuteronomy 19:6) which begs the question, who dampened your Godward desires? I venture to say that only self can deter a man en route to the city of God. That legitimate desire (the corporate ladder, the high heels damsel, the status symbol) soon rendered the coming of the LORD illegitimate. What I am saying is that it's not the bad things that kept God away; in fact God ruled Himself out by being good to you. The fat and the sweet of life have denied you the true honeycomb and you are somehow never able to have them both simultaneously. Be wise, my son. Get God first and then pursue good lest the good that came before Him should blur His visage, and cut off the earnest of His sweetness from the tastebuds of the soul. My son, Oh my son!
